Haven NZ Ltd are a successful residential house building company based Pukekohe just south of Auckland.
 
They have three parts to their business; one that specialises in build mid to high range new houses and alterations, another than does new construction and renovations for Housing New Zealand (the state housing organisation), and a third building transportable homes.  Their franchised branches operate in Coromandel and on Waiheke Island in the Hauraki Gulf.

Owner Gary Millington sees it is important that as a business they on the leading edge of new construction practices and materials.  As a result Haven have won many regional and national awards for their house designs and construction projects.

Being recognised as a leading construction company they also feature regularly in national promotional activity for building industry material suppliers.

The Need
Haven want to implement a systems infrastructure that will be a platform for their future business development.

Their internal management systems were largely manual making it time consuming to manage job costs.

Often variations to projects were not charged to customers or were picked up late in the project resulting in arguments about the cost and who pays.

Project cost over runs picked up too late for the project managers to react.
Often suppliers charged higher prices than originally quoted but their systems often did not pick this up.

The Solution
Haven implemented biscoPro Office using the quotation, budget, purchasing and cost management modules.

The system allowed them to closely track the project costs against the job budget.

Variances are identified early allowing the project managers to take immediate rectification.
The biscoPro variation management allowed them to quote and agree variations before starting the work on them.

Using purchases orders and the receipting process means supplier over charges are picked up early.
