Inspection Basics

Desktop
To create a new inspection you can either drag and drop an inspection from the list of tasks on the right hand side or right click on a Planned Work record and select "Copy to Actual Diary".  This creates an Actual Work record in the diary.

The inspector form has tabs along the top that show the process an inspection goes through.

The icons at the bottom of the screen show your progress through the tabs.  Once you have completed a tab the icon goes grey.  You can also jump between tabs by clicking on the icon.

Inspection Details
The first Details tab contains the basic information about the inspection, who does it, the start and stop times, and travel distances.

Inspector
The inspector tab shows the Work Category of the inspection, who is performing the inspection and their License Category.  This tab checks if the inspector is qualified for the inspection and if a supervisor is required.

The checks this tab performs are:
  • If the inspection Work Category is below the inspector's License Category then the inspector can proceed.
  • If the inspection category is one greater than the inspector's license they can proceed but the need to select a suitably qualified supervisor who will review the inspection.
  • If the inspection is more than one greater then the inspection cannot proceed

The user can change the inspection Work Category if they disagree with the categorisation (the change is logged in the audit trail).   The Inspector name should always be the name of the person performing the inspection.  It defaults to the diary name but if you are using someone else's machine you can change it to your name.

Preconditions, Inspection Items, Supervision Items
The details of the inspection appear across three tabs - Preconditions, Inspection Items, and Supervision.  Each look and work in the same way.

Expenses and FileStore
The expenses tab allows you to capture costs related to the work and the FileStore allows you to attach documents to the work record.  Note:  If you organisation is synchronising from biscoPro to a back office system to you to check that these functions are supported.

Photos
You can take Photos as part of the inspection process.  We describe how this works in a separate section - Taking Pictures.  If there are no photos required for this inspection check "Allow no Photographs".

The finalisation tab allows you to capture signatures from the inspector and the client and it will embed these into the inspection report.

Finalise
Click on the signature panel and it pops the signature capture application.   The inspector signs in their panel, the client in theirs.  Accept the signatures and they will appear in the finalise tab.

The Pass and Fail buttons only appear when you have completed all of the tabs but the Fail Outright button allows you to go straight to fail where it is evident that the inspection has no chance of passing.

If you have deferred any items you must select a Next Inspection for these items to carry forward to.  You can nominate a estimated date and time for this inspection which could assist your office with planning.

Once set to pass or fail the inspection becomes read only.  However, the Reset Status button allows you to change the status back to in progress so you can make changes if required.  Do this will be recorded in the Audit Log.  If photos are included the system creates a separate document with these.

Once you have passed or failed the inspection you can view the report by pressing the View Inspection button.  The reports can be customised to show what you require, either summary or detailed.
