Using the Desktop

The desktop button on the Main Form opens the current user's desktop where you can see their diary, plan and record work activities and get quick access to the projects they are working on.  You can also drop down the Desktop botton to open another users Desktop.

Desktop Tabs
Looking across the top of the desktop there are tabs that allow you quick access to the areas that you might be working on.
  • Projects - an easy way of getting to the active projects that you are involved with.  To add a project to this list just add yourself as a contact to that project.  To remove one just delete your contact from the project.
  • FileStore - is where you can have a personal store of documents that you access from this desktop.
  • Library - is a FileStore that is shared across all users.
  • Isssues - allows you to see all active issues

Calendar
The calendar section on the top right allows you to view the diary for different days by clicking on a a day.  The circle around the days means that you have planned or actual work on a particular day.

Tasks, Actions, Issues Grid
The grid on the bottom right shows a view of tasks, actions, or issues that are assigned to you.  You can drag and drop these into the diary to record work against them.
  • Tasks are expected activities against a project
  • Issues are things that arise on a project that need tracking through to resolution
  • Actions are notes or reminders of things that you have done or should be doing.  They are cab be associated with projects, customers, suppliers, or contacts.
Diary
The diary section on the bottom left is split into two sections, Planned Work and Actual Work.  This allows you to create a plan for your activities or record the work that you have done.  You can make notes against these.

When recording actual work you can adjust the billable portion of the time, record milelage, and add expense items against the work record.  These will carry through into the job cost module when the time is billed.
