bisco Concept and Vision
biscoPro is a system for managing construction related businesses. Our vision is to provide a software suite that manages the information flow through the building industry improving its structural efficiency.
A key factor as to why there is so much inefficiency in the sector is the ineffective management of the movement of information within, and between, the various parties to the construction process. This poor communication causes a lot of manual data re-entry and information duplication, resulting in a significant amount of pain from delays, processing costs, wastage, and errors. All aspects of construction are affected by this - whether residential, industrial, or commercial, no matter the type of work undertaken (new, additions, or alterations).
The core of the poor communication problem is a lack of common standards and efficient tools to convert CAD information into other formats that can be used for downstream applications in order to complete the construction process. These include materials estimating, specification documents, resource planning, or detailing in other CAD based applications (like frames, trusses, or windows). Currently theses processes are primarily performed as manual interpretations of paper-based drawings, where a skilled person reads the drawings to create text information (for specification, descriptions, etc) or data (for products, pricing etc).
Therefore, in order to achieve this vision successfully, bisco™ needs to be able to transform data multiple times so information is available in the right form for each user, while maintaining the integrity of both the data and the process. In many cases this will require interfaces to established industry point solutions but will also require the development of specific modules where existing solutions do not translate well into this collaborative environment.
