Managing Documents (FileStore Overview)

The bisco team have integrated an advanced document management system into biscoPro know as a FileStore.  This allows you to store files and documents in their correct context.  Most entities within biscoPro have FileStores; companies, customers, suppliers, projects, contacts, items, tasks etc.

A FileStore looks and functions much like Windows Explorer, that most users will be familiar with, but has traffic lights to indicate the document status.  You can edit files with a green light, someone else is editing the red and orange files, and the blue means you have a copy that you can access read only when offline.  A white light means the file is on the server only and available to you.

When you open a file from the FileStore biscoPro makes a copy onto your machine and you actually run the file from your local hard drive.  This means it is as fast as possible but still managed within a central file system.

You can create folders, add documents, drag and drop from Windows or MS Outlook, or create them using a predefined template document.

The icons next to the document are provided by the operating system.  If a file doesn't have an icon it means that you don't have a suitable program on your machine.

Right Click
Use the right click function to work with documents or to add files or folders.

The grid tab provides an alternative view of the documents within the FileStore.  This is useful as you can filter, sort, and search within the grid.  Currently you can only open a document as read only from the grid.

Grid View
The grid view presents a "flat" list of files in a file store.  Click on the column heading to sort up or down. You can search and filter within the FileStore.
