Creating budgets for Task based projects

biscoPro allows you to create a budget for task based projects so that you can manage your time and costs.

You can create a budget by a couple of means; either by manually entering the details as items into a budget in the cost control module or by creating tasks and adding expense items to the task.

Task Billing
The costing information for tasks is held on the billing tab in the task.
TaskBilling
By default, task are set to billable but if you know that you won't be billing a customer for work on the task you can uncheck this.  (Note: when you add work against the task you change the billing status for that work record.)

If you uncheck Is Billable the system will still pass time costs to the Cost Control module but sets the sell price to zero.

Budget using the Cost Control Module
Go to the cost control module, select the budget node, right click in the secondary grid and select new.  Then add items to the budget to reflect the time costs and expected expenses.  To find out more about the Cost Control Module click <<here>>.

Creating a Budget from Tasks
Using the billing tab in the task you create the details for the time and expense budget by adding items onto the task.  You create the budget using the Task Wizard in the Cost Control module.  More details <<here>>.

Time Billing Item
To track your budget and actual time costs against a specific item you can add that item as the default Timed Cost Item.  Doing this will mean that when you process your work it will pass into the job cost module under that item code.
TaskTimeItem
If you don't specify an item to record the time cost and sell against the system will use a default billing item.

It you create more than one default time billing record the system will use the first one.

Expense Budget Items
Add other items to the task to reflect other expected expense items.  These could be for things like dispersements, printing, copying and the like.

Creating the budget
Once you have created the task time and expense details on the tasks go to the Control Module and run the Task Wizard.  More details <<here>>.
